My true tale about wasting money, time and effort because of bypassing feelings in business…
A big reason I wanted my own business was wanting to break free of a rigid schedule. I decided to offer life coaching and invested money, time and effort into a training program. But the more I put into it, the more unhappy I got. This eventually made sense to me:
I was learning to book clients many months in advance, which clashed with my desire to feel like I had more time flexibility than less. Plus, I’m not into holding adults accountable, which is another thing that coaches often do. With that clarity, I cut my losses and changed course.
…and a happy ending to a woeful start.
I got clear on the main ways I wanted to feel in my business, and was unsentimental about ditching activities that didn’t align. Then, I thought about what I was doing when I felt the way I wanted to feel, and now I’m doing those things to build my business, A Village for Life.
I love how I feel when telling stories and designing things, from PDFs to products to programs, all of which I’m doing these days. As for why I offer clarity and storytelling consulting by the hour or day, well, it gets back to that feeling flexible thing (wink).
